Benjamin Kasavan graduated from Emory University with a B.S. in Physics in 2019. Outside of classes, he spent 4 years researching the physical properties of thin polymer films. After finishing a project on the properties near the interface in a multi-layer film, he studied the properties of polymers used in art conservation.
He is an avid advocate for active transportation options with a focus on bicycling. He has volunteered in DIY bicycle shops since 2015, and is a manager at SOPO Bicycle Cooperative, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to helping people get on their bikes and riding through the DIY shop. He also serves on the board of trustees of SOPO as their treasurer.
Also with SOPO, he manages the bike rack installation project, the only professional bike rack installation service in the city of Atlanta. Too often we saw organizations installing bike racks incorrectly, or simply in a way which doesn't make sense to how people on bicycles will actually use them. We charge a competitive rate for installations for apartment complexes and businesses and use the funds to provide free bike racks to local non-profits, as well as to support our mission as a DIY bike shop.
Benjamin Kasavan currently works in IT at Emory University running their enterprise-wide charge-for-print service. This involves managing 7 servers, 66 printers, as well as other devices and peripherals.
Beyond that, he is interested in moving into a more traditional IT endeavor, with a focus on cybersecurity. In order to learn more about linux server administration, AWS, and front end development, he has started putting together this website.
Unfortunately a website can't simply be built with technology, it must also have content, and so that is where this comes in.
